I will tell you how to customize your ipod or iphone with games and utilities to make your friends go completely geleous
Start with whatever Firmware you want. I recommend to start with the newest firmware so that you can have all the new features but if you prefer to stick to the old firmware then I will still tell you how to do it.

A few things you should know about, are that there are a few very recognized names in the homebrew community for the ipod touch and iphone, some are
The dev-team(Currently the only team that is dedicated to jailbreaking the new firmwares and releasing the software to the masses)
Zibri (created Ziphone but has not released a new jailbreak since Version 2.0 was released),
Zodd(created emulators like gps phone and Nes), and a few others

If you would like to upgrade or downgrade your firmware here's how.
Upgrade: First download the firmware that you want, from the firmware section /firmware-downloads.html
then open Itunes and wait for your device to load up then hold shift on either update or restore - (if you want to start with a fresh device). Find the firmware that you downloaded and choose it, and let itunes do its thing.
Downgrade: First download the firmware that you want, from the firmware section /firmware-downloads.html
then open Itunes. On your ipod hold the sleep/wake button and home button until the device restarts and the apple logo appears, when it appears, let o of the sleep/wake button but continue holding the home button untill a picture of Itunes and a usb appear. (this is called restore mode or DFU mode) Then hold shift and click restore and find the firmware you want.
If anything goes wrong like you get an error, keep trying to put your device into restore mode. and If the problem still persists then contact me and i will help you my self.
